Blessings out, blessings in

This is the post asking for help I saw on Facebook a few days ago and I felt lead to go to Blountstown to do what I can.

Tom Derzypolski October 14 at 1:53 PMBLOUNTSTOWN: volunteers needed now and throughout the week at the donation center 16119 HW 71 South. Accepting donations and giving them to the authorized groups is al that we need you to do. No training required 😉 *but we do need you. Same request for people in the surrounding areas and Tallahassee.

So, I loaded up my Ford Fusion with cases of water, gas cans and extension cords ready to get to work. Wasn’t sure what to expect, honestly. What I saw was total devastation and it shook me.

The Abe Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church by far left the biggest impact in my life. I prayed with a Pentecostal minister. It made me cry. Gotta say, helping sort and distribute items at center that the Derzypolski’s set up was great. But, helping deliver some needed items to this church was something I’ll never forget. The woman pulled up in a sedan and needed a bunch of items. A few volunteers and I loaded a truck and brought lots and lots to them.
The devastation is beyond words. The congregation was washing clothes out front and hanging them. One large room inside was where they all slept as many of their homes were destroyed. Throughout the day workers and residents stop by to visit and get some supplies. As the preacher man said blessings in, blessings out.

I came home to the front porch I so carefully decorated for fall, still wearing the orange tape volunteers were asked to wear feeling beyond blessed and thankful.

How can you help? If you are on Facebook, I am sure you have seen links to those gathering supplies, drop off locations etc. Here are a few that I found and know the people behind them

Beach Chic Wedding Sandestin

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Heather and Keller’s beach chic wedding Sandestin was gorgeous! I LOVE photographing weddings by the water and LOVE even more photographing couples on the beach. There is something special about a destination wedding- it is like everyone is on an awesome vacay with their favorite people capped off by an amazing party.

Heather was a stunner in her Casa Blanca gown and Keller looked so very GQ in his classic tuxedo. Thanks to Shannon Reeves for perfectly coordinating their flawless wedding!
Heather’s RAVE review – They are amazinggggg!!!! Wow so beautiful!

Grand Finale Fireworks! Mr and Mrs McAhren’s Shiloh Farm Wedding

Grand Finale Fireworks- what a way to begin a wonderful lifetime of love and laughter. Mr and Mrs McAhren’s Shiloh Wedding was a blast and ended with an awesome surprise. Once the bride and groom began their birdseed exit Ashley Pyrotechnics lit up the sky with a gorgeous firework display. Mr and Mrs McAhren were over the moon with such a great surprise. It was the perfect way to end a gorgeous wedding day!

Rock and Roll Los Robles Wedding

Anna and Terrence’s rock and roll Los Robles wedding was awesome and unique. Their styles were reflected throughout their day. From Anna’s amazing couture dress and tattoos to their choice to have food trucks cater their reception. I loved everything about this wedding! Shortly after their image gallery was available on zenfolio.com I got this amazing rave from Anna.

“When I think back on my experience, here is what comes to mind about Kay: 1) Organized: Before our wedding we had a meeting to go over our logistics. We went through the timeline together, while she took notes about our wedding (placing, timing, the who’s-who, etc). She knew all the right questions to ask. We had a large and complicated wedding party, but on the big day, she knew everyone’s names, and was able to make sure we got every picture we wanted. There is a lot to worry about on the wedding day, and it was such a relief to know that Kay had everything under control on her end. 2) Hard worker: In our meetings leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day, Kay was diligent. When we were doing our photos in the park, Kay actually laid down on the ground in her dress and heels to get the right shots! I was so impressed by her determination to take the best pictures, even if it meant getting dirty! 3) Personable: We also all really enjoyed Kay as a person. Emotions run high during wedding planning, and having someone as kind, compassionate, and funny as Kay was refreshing. She made it clear that she cared about our story, and making sure we got exactly what we wanted on our wedding day. 4) Professional: We were initially unsure about hiring a professional wedding photographer, but after hearing horror stories of people who didn’t, we decided we wanted to have the best. And Kay is the best. She was always on time to meetings, she always responded to emails promptly, and she even referred us to our DJ. 5) Gifted: We just got the pictures back this weekend. And I have to say, they are absolutely breathtaking. Going through the album was like reliving our wedding all over again, and Kay captured it all– from me getting dressed to our exit at the end of the night. Each picture was perfect. I am so very grateful we were lucky enough to get to have Kay for our wedding. I cannot recommend her highly enough! Thank you for everything Kay!”

Scala’s Spectacular Southern Wedding

A beautiful wedding with a lively reception was perfect for Scala’s Spectacular Southern Wedding. From the moment Emily and I met we clicked! From photographing the engagement session, boudoir portraits to planning her wedding everything with Emily was fun. Morgan compliments her perfectly with his quick wit and I know they will enjoy years of laughter, love and adventure together.

The Scala’s were wed at Emily’s childhood church, First Baptist Church in Quincy. The sanctuary was packed and all eyes were on Morgan as he eagerly awaited Emily’s arrival. The guests stood as she walked down aisle with her dad, Morgan saw his bride for the first time in her gorgeous gown. This moment is always one of my favorites.

The Governors Club reception was full of music, laughter, dancing and delicious food.  The band kept everyone on the dance floor singing along. It was perfect! The Scala’s were sent off with brilliant sparklers and cheers from family and friends. Cheers Morgan and Emily!

Mr and Mrs Morrell- Seaside FL Chapel Wedding

Mr and Mrs Morrell- Seaside FL Chapel Wedding was filled with love from family that came from near and far to celebrate with Monica and Scott. From the moment I walked in and felt the warmth of everyone in this blended family I knew it was going to be a fabulous day. Each with 2 girls and 1 boy- all teenagers- they got along like they had been together since birth. It was a great think to capture.

With the reading of vows and each child taking a turn to read their letter to Monica and Scott their knot was tied. As soon as Monica’s son and his girlfriend started singing to the couple from the balcony- there was not a dry eye in the chapel. Their voices were radiant and they sounded great together. Here is a snippet of the beginning of “The Prayer” by Celine Dion- their voices so pure it gave me goosebumps.

“I pray you’ll be our eyes, and watch us where we go.
And help us to be wise in times when we don’t know
Let this be our prayer, when we lose our way
Lead us to the place, guide us with your grace
To a place where we’ll be safe”

I had a blast photographing The Morrell’s and their children on the beach after the ceremony as we all walked to the Pillner House for their wedding reception. As soon as we got close, the guests cheered at their arrival and clapped for the newlyweds. As the sun disappeared into the ocean, the house was lit beautifully and the merriment continued.

Congratulations Scott and Monica- cheers to a lifetime of love and happiness!
