This was a first for me, and in 14 years it was refreshing! I met Hayden during a commercial shoot over a year ago. He contacted me a few months ago to photograph his surprise engagement to his girlfriend Angela as a gorgeous local park. I was to get there early and photograph them when they got there. I though about this the entire day and figured out that the best thing for me to do (to avoid looking like a weirdo in the bushes) was to bring my 7 year old son and his best friend. So, there we were hanging out on the bridge at Dorothy Oven Park while they picnicked with wine and sweet conversation. BTW, never tell two 7 year olds a secret this big… they kept looking over and quietly asking when he was going to do it. Thankfully, we were out of ear shot. So, he popped the question and she said YES! She was truly surprised and I was honored to be there to capture such a special moment.
So, as you can see, I was ecstatic when they chose me as their wedding photographer. I was so looking forward to their Watercolor Wedding. The day was gorgeous and clear, the perfect weather for an outdoor fall wedding. Angela was ravishing with her gorgeous hair and elegant dress, it was truly a photographers dream. With her sister, his daughters and his brother by his side, they wed on the Western Park Green. Her dad not only gave her away, but also officiated their intimate ceremony. After their vows and family images were shot, he headed for the beach. This is my very favorite moment at a wedding, when I get some time alone with the newlyweds- especially on the beach! The Boat House reception was wonderful with warm toasts from family and friends. This wedding was a true pleasure to photograph!
